The scope of the project is the provision of daily operation services of the landfill of Pera Galines. The total quantity that will be managed is 480.000 tn of incoming mixed waste and dehydrated sludge from the wastewater treatment plants with capacity of 385.948 m3.

The annual amount of waste is 150.000tn. The scope of the operation besides the landfilling of incoming waste also includes:

  • Development of biogas extraction wells.
  • Environmental monitoring and control of the installation.
  • Maintenance of facilities and equipment including mobile equipment.
  • Operation and maintenance of the Leachate Treatment Unit (DES) of the landfill which includes the following sections:
    • Collection - balancing tank for the drains of a new cell with a capacity of 1,860m3 (new tank).
    • Drainage collection - balancing tank with a capacity of 1,860m3 (initial tank) and supply pumping stations of the first biological stage.
    • First stage of biological treatment with distinct phases of aeration and anoxic conditions for degradation of organic charge and nitrification - denitrification in two closed complexes that operate in parallel, type "compact" with bioreactors filled with special filler material, type M.B.B.R.
    • Second stage of biological treatment, with bioreactors in combination with membrane bioreactor (Membrane Bioreactor, M.B.R.), in two closed complexes that operate in parallel. Within the same assemblies, the mixed liquid is clarified with the help of membranes.
