The scope of the project is the construction of a plant for the processing of mixed municipal waste, with a capacity of 15.000 tn/year. In addition, 300tn of sludge will enter the unit. The facility will be designed so that in the future it could process 8.600tn of pre-selected recyclables. It is a project that will serve 45,000 residents of the municipalities of Sitia and Ierapetra.

The object of the project includes:

  • Construction of Reception Unit and Mechanical Processing
  • Construction of a biological treatment plant
  • Construction of Maturation - refining unit of the solid residue of the biological treatment
  • Construction of Residue Landfill
  • Construction of wastewater management projects and upgrading of the Drainage Treatment Plant
  • Construction of rainwater management projects.
  • Construction of internal road projects
  • Construction of necessary infrastructure projects
  • Construction of environmental monitoring projects of the facilities
  • Supply of mobile equipment for operation.
  • Test operation of the facilities lasting 6 months.
  • Normal operation of the facilities for 5 years
