The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Plati is designed for 3.035 equivalent inhabitants and an average daily flow of 546 m3 / day. The design has been done in such a way as to make full use of the advantages of compact assemblies. Thus, the total coverage of the project, together with all the units, the internal road construction, emergency sewage storage tank and convenient perimeter access, does not exceed 2.5 acres.

 

 In order to prevent the inflow of sewage into the final disposal ditch due to emergency phenomena (general breakdown, or overloading of the WWTP) it has been placed within the plant an open semi-underground pond of trapezoidal cross-section, which can provide 24-hour storage at the average daily design flow

  • WWTP includes pre-treatment, balancing tank, biological stage, chlorination, dechlorination, sludge dehydration, service building with the administration-control office, warehouse, laboratory, and energy room.
  • For the biological treatment of wastewater, two separate compact biological treatment units using the MBBR-IFAS (Moving Bed BioReactor – Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge) technology are used. In the compact complexes, all the required processes of biological wastewater treatment take place, i.e. pre-denitrification, oxidation of organics (BOD5 and COD), nitrification and separation of suspended solids from the treated effluent (clarification). In addition, chemical dephosphorization also takes place within the compact complexes, with direct dosing of d/th polyaluminum chloride (PACl) through diaphragm pumps in the final part of the aerobic reaction zone of each complex.
  • The dewatering of the sludge is carried out with a screw press which is installed in a specially designed for this purpose ISO-standard 20 ft container (6.00 m long container) together with all the accompanying equipment. To control the odors produced by the mechanical sludge management, an activated carbon adsorption type deodorization system is installed, which draws air from both the dewatering container and the dewatered sludge collection bin installation house.
